What is a local trade union branch?

Every member of PAM is automatically a member of a local trade union branch. The main purpose of a local branch is to represent their members within the union and protect their interests. This is carried out e.g. by supporting the employee representatives and rewarding membership acquisitions. We take stands on socially important issues. If necessary, we make decisions on strike action measures.

The local branch supports its members in everyday life. We make instructions and give advice to our members both online and personally. We support the professional development of members by organizing courses and giving out training allowance.

The local branch also organizes diverse recreational activities for its members and offers member benefits. During crises, we have given out gift cards to our members in need.

The board leads the local branch and makes the final decisions. The sections bring proposals to the board. Sections and the board organize all the wonderful events and member benefits that our local branch offers.

RESBONSIBILITIES OF LOCAL BRANCHES

  • Process motions made by members and provide statements on any issues in the workplace, including organising events for workers at the workplace.

  • Conveying the members’ feedback from the workplace to the union.

  • Organise leisure time activities for members.
